Effective from September 2023
In the UK, T5, T8 and compact fluorescent lamps will be banned from sale. The phased changes will occur between 1st September 2023 and 1st February 2024.
This is due to changes to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (RoHS) and similar policies are being instigated throughout the EU, you will still find that the wholesalers and electrical outlet shops will be allowed to clear there remaining stocks so this wont happen overnight, but its worth planning for the eventual change in advance and not be left in the dark
No need to panic though there are LED equivalents Tube Kits available which will fit in the same light fittings, you will also find that most modern Electricians have been only installing LED lights for a number of years so it is mainly going to be old kitchen lights or garage lighting.
